# Handle a builder profile suspension without making the record harder to fix

When Google suspends a builder's Business Profile, stop editing. Save the notice, the account access list and screenshots of the public listing. Compare each field with your operating records and the current rules in [Google Business Profile](/glossary/google-business-profile/) Help. Fix only confirmed conflicts. Build a short evidence file, appeal through the supported path and log the result.

## What should the team do first after a suspension?

Treat the suspension as an account and evidence problem, not a copywriting problem. Capture the exact notice, the date, the account, the profile identifier and whatever the public still sees. Record who has owner and manager access. Do not create a replacement profile. Do not change five fields to see what works.

Freeze unrelated edits while the team establishes the facts. A burst of name, category, address and service changes makes the record harder to explain. Keep the website and the other accurate profiles available to buyers, but do not assume they prove what Google requires.

The [local presence hub](/articles/local-presence/) shows how the profile fits beside maps, citations and owned pages, so inquiry routes do not depend on one listing.

## Which profile fields deserve the closest review?

Compare the suspended record with current Google guidance and your real operation. Check eligibility, evidence requirements and the appeal route in Google Business Profile Help on the day you review. An old checklist or a forum answer is not a current rule.

### Build a field and evidence matrix

| Field | Question to answer | Evidence to inspect |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Business name | Does it match the public identity without added services or towns? | Owned website and operating records |
| Address | Is the location real, eligible and represented correctly? | Office records, access context and current guidance |
| Service area | Does it match places the builder actually serves? | Operating profile and current coverage |
| Category | Does the primary category describe the core operation? | Platform category choices and builder process |
| Phone | Is it controlled and answered for the business? | Phone account and call-routing test |
| Website | Does it use the owned domain and consistent identity? | Domain account and live page |
| Ownership | Are the account and managers legitimate? | Account register and access review |

An active job site, a temporary model and a private residence each need careful review. Do not publish an address or invite visitors to support an appeal. Your real customer-facing arrangement drives the profile decision.

## How should the builder prepare an appeal?

Keep the file short and in order. The reviewer needs to know which profile is affected, what the business does, how the current fields match the operation and what was corrected. More documents do not help. Include what the current appeal route asks for and what supports the reviewed fields.

1. Save the suspension notice and profile identifiers.

2. Review current platform guidance for the profile type and appeal route.

3. Compare every material field with builder-controlled records.

4. Correct only confirmed conflicts through the available account controls.

5. Prepare a dated evidence index with a short explanation for each item.

6. Submit through the supported process from the controlling account.

7. Record the confirmation and monitor the stated status channel.

Do not promise a reinstatement date. Review timing and the decision are Google's. Mark the appeal submitted, not resolved, until the account and the public listing show the result.

## What should the team avoid while the appeal is pending?

Do not open a duplicate, recruit other accounts to claim the listing or keep changing fields without evidence. Do not send buyers to an unstaffed location. Do not post a public complaint that reveals account details, personal information or an unresolved project dispute.

### Keep the buyer path working elsewhere

Test the [owned website](/process/owned-website/), the contact form and the phone routing. Check the other map and directory records for the same core facts. If the profile was a major source of project photos, make sure representative work is still on pages you own, with context.

Use [builder profile consistency](/articles/local-presence/builder-profile-consistency/) to record related mismatches without calling them the confirmed cause. The [citation audit](/articles/local-presence/builder-citations-and-directories/) keeps old addresses and phone numbers from circulating.

## How should reinstatement be checked and documented?

Account access alone is not reinstatement. Confirm the live public profile: business name, address treatment, category, phone, website, hours, photos, reviews. Test the phone and the website link from outside the account. Record the date and the visible result.

Then compare any reason in the Google notice with the evidence. Keep open cause questions apart from confirmed findings. Was an event address left active? Did a vendor add towns to the business name? Did office access change with no profile review? Use the confirmed findings to set maintenance triggers and update the account register.

The [Search presence stage](/process/search-presence/) puts access and the maintenance record in your name. The [Google Business Profile guide](/guides/google-business-profile-for-builders/) covers the operating setup once access is stable.

### Where can AI agents help without taking over the appeal?

Our agents inventory public records, compare fields with the source sheet, organize evidence and draft a short explanation. They do not fabricate supporting material, decide that a location meets eligibility guidance or submit sensitive documents without review.

People verify the operating facts, choose the evidence and review every submission. The same rule holds after reinstatement: agents flag drift, a person approves changes to identity, address, ownership and [operating profile](/glossary/operating-profile/) facts like service territory.

For setup that avoids the problem, see [Google Business Profile setup for builders](/articles/local-presence/google-business-profile-setup-for-builders/).

## Questions about profile suspensions

### Should we create a new profile while the old one is suspended?

Document the suspended builder Google Business Profile before creating another record. Check recovery and duplicate guidance with Google Business Profile Help.

### Can we use a current job site as the address?

Do not change a suspended builder profile to a job-site address as a workaround. Check location eligibility with Google Business Profile Help first.

### Does submitting an appeal mean the profile is restored?

Submitting a builder profile appeal does not establish restoration. Record the platform decision, then check account access and the live public listing separately.

### Can an AI agent handle the suspension by itself?

AI agents can organize a builder profile suspension file and draft explanations. People should verify eligibility guidance, access, evidence and each sensitive submission.
